Bishop Edward J. Burns signed a new Pastoral Plan for the Diocese of Juneau during the Chrism Mass at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on March 26th, 2015.
The new Diocesan Pastoral Plan, which is to govern the activities of the Diocese through the year 2020, has three sources: the recommendations of the 2013 Diocese of Juneau Synod; Bishop Burns’ June 2015 Pastoral Letter, To Know, Love and Serve Jesus Christ through His Body – the Church; and, the views expressed at the September 2014 meeting of the fulltime ministers of the Diocese of Juneau.
The plan contains five major categories of policies, standards and goals for the Diocese: Personal Relationship wtih Jesus Christ; The Church and Society; The Future of the Church, Stewardship and the Temporal Needs of the Church; and, Liturgical, Sacramental, and Spiritual Life.
