The tourist season might be over, but the Shrine of St. Therese is keeping busy. On Saturday, October 5, the Shrine hosted an Open House for the Lodge. About 50 curious people arrived to investigate and celebrate the renovations of the Lodge. A few visitors took a trip down memory lane recalling retreats from their youth. Others stopped in to make plans for upcoming retreats or to scope out the Lodge out to book future retreats. The weather even cooperated for the day and the sunshine was about as bright and cheery as the inside of the Lodge.
On Saturday, October 12th from 9 am – 2 pm Shrine Board Member Janis Burns-Buyarski led a group of volunteers in cleaning up the Shrine Gardens in preparation for winter. In case you missed this one, there will be another Work Party in the Spring.
All Soul’s Day will be quite busy at the Shrine. At 11:00 a.m. Bishop Burns will celebrate the annual All Soul’s Mass in the Shrine Chapel. Deceased parishioners of the Diocese will be especially remembered in the Mass. Then, at 3:00 pm, the Shrine will kick off the 75th Anniversary Celebration of the Chapel. As part of the celebratory year, the Shrine will sponsor a fundraiser concert series. More concert dates will be announced.
Finally, the Shrine is looking for volunteers to join the Shrine Prayer Team. If you’re willing to pray for retreatants, retreat leaders, and other intentions from the Shrine please contact Deirdre Darr at juneaushrine@live.com.
