On the eve of my conversion
I could not have foreseen
the depths and heights.
Conversion of the heart,
death and rebirth, a beginning.
From darkness to light.
Then, “The Holy Spirit brought you here.”
Home. At protest’s end.
But not where I thought I’d be.
Now a third conversion – slow, like yours.
So many steps of a pilgrimage
toward eternity.
