Orsen Mike, a 3rd grader at Holy Name school received the Cub Scout Lumen Christi award last month. Orsen is an active member of Cub Scout Pack 4 which is sponsored by Holy Name church. He worked with his family over the course of the past year to earn the Lumen Christi (Light of Christ) award. The Light of Christ is the first religious award available to young scouts through the National Catholic Committee on Scouting. It is earned when a scout, together with his family, work through a series of activities reflecting on the sacraments of baptism, reconciliation, and the Eucharist. The activities included reading scripture passages, sharing personal prayers, and relating to moments from the life of Christ. Throughout this journey both Orsen and his family were strengthened in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and were able to come to a better understanding and appreciation of His love.
