
Bishop Edward J. Burns announced May 13th that Deacon Mike Monagle will be taking over the responsibilities of the Diocese of Juneau Business Manager/Finance Officer position on July 1st. Current Business Manager/Finance Officer Larry Bussone announced his intention to leave the position earlier this year, and a widescale recruitment process took place over the last 3 months.
Deacon Monagle is a third generation Alaskan, born and raised in Juneau. He is a long-time member of the Juneau Catholic community and son of John and Sari Monagle. He was ordained a permanent deacon for the Diocese of Juneau in August of 2014. He and his wife, Marilyn, are members of St. Paul the Apostle parish in Juneau, where Marilyn also serves as the Director of Religious Education.
Deacon Mike comes to the Diocese of Juneau with a business administration education, and work experience in public administration and business administration. He has been employed by the State of Alaska for the past 25 years, most recently serving as Director of the Division of Workers’ Compensation since July 2010. Prior to returning to Alaska in 1989, he had 8 years management experience with a Pacific Northwest retailer.
