Every year around this time of year, the ladies of Sacred Heart Church (Haines) have a ‘Cookies by the Pound’ sale. It’s an annual Advent event for the community of Haines. The table is laid-out, as pictured. Small cardboard boxes are provided as are appropriate food-handlers’ light plastic gloves. Shoppers put as many cookies as they want into their box and proceed to the check-out lady, who weighs the box on a scale. Cookies are $5/pound. Seen here are three of our ladies who were here early to set-up: Faith Lorentz, Jansy Hansen & Kathy Warner. Doors opened at 10am and the tables were pretty-much empty by 12:30pm. Sweet tooth, anyone?
