Thirty full-time ministers of the Diocese of Juneau met from October 1 – 4 at St. Rose of Lima Church in Wrangell. The clergy and lay ministers gathered with Bishop Burns for morning and evening prayer, daily mass, as well as meetings to review the needs and concerns of the Diocese in the coming Year of Faith.
On Monday evening, October 1st — the Feast of St. Therese of Lisieux, Patroness of the state of Alaska and the Diocese of Juneau — Bishop Edward Burns signed the decree convoking the 2nd Synod of the Diocese of Juneau, as well as the Introduction to his Pastoral letter to the Faithful of the Diocese of Juneau: Rediscover the Journey and Joy of Encountering Christ. The complete Pastoral Letter will be mailed to all members of the Diocese in mid-October.
