CatholicSea.Com Sets Sail as Preferred Social Networking Site for Catholics

A pair of 4th Degree Grand Knights of Columbus Answer Pope Benedict XVI’s call and become “cyber-fishers of men” while benefitting parishes worldwide

Davie, FL – August 23, 2011 – Two South Florida 4th Degree “Grand Knights” of the Knights of Columbus, Michael Lynch and Al Silva, on August 22nd, the Feast of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary, launched CatholicSea.com, the first non-secular Catholic social networking site that will also include a new free on-line Catholic eMagazine, Catholic Today. “The Mission of CatholicSea.com is to unite Catholics across the digital continent and inspire them through communication, education, and motivation,” says Lynch, who has his MBA and is a graduate from Florida State University with almost 20 years experience. He continues, Until now, all social networking sites have been secular in nature. Our goal is to become the premiere Catholic social networking site in the universe.” What is unique about CatholicSea.com is that not only will it be a free-membership based site where members can post on their “board” in a social-media style format and engage in thought-provoking forums, they can also learn of timely issues of concern for ‘Catholics today’ in their newly launched Catholic Today e-Magazine, which will feature articles by top Catholic writers and theologians from around the globe.

The site also has a unique parish FastFunds Program where Members register/select the parish of their choice so when they purchase from the 30,000 products available in their online store, 5% of each sale will go back to the Member’s selected parish.

Inspired after Pope Benedict XVI’s message on the occasion of the 45th World Communication Day in January 2011, Lynch and Silva created the vision of CatholicSea.com after hearing, “…this means of spreading information and knowledge is giving birth to a new way of learning and thinking, with unprecedented opportunities for establishing relationships and building fellowship.” Silva converted to Catholicism a little over a decade ago and has over 20 years of experience in corporate distribution management. He shares, “I am amazed by the vastness of the Catholic faith with millions of members. I am inspired to answer the call of The Holy Father and help connect Catholics around the world in a safe, spiritually supportive online community. I hope our CatholicSea.com Members will ‘catch fire’ as they share and connect. We chose the name CatholicSea.com because we envisioned sharing Jesus Christ, the “Water of Life” in order to quench the thirst of souls for God.”

“We are frequently asked by many of our CCD parents where they can buy Catholic gifts for their child’s Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation,” says Susan Mikluscak, DRE of St. Mark the Evangelist Church in Southwest Ranches, Florida. “Directing them to CatholicSea.com will be a double blessing since our parish will also be benefitting financially from their purchase.”

“CatholicSea.com provides a way for Catholics of all levels of faith and interest to escape from the secular social media outlets and be refreshed in this new catholic oasis,” says Lynch.
